Published Writing

In a Rhetorical Studies class, I was elected to be editor-in-chief of a student-made magazine. Our editorial group created a call-for-articles and accepted or rejected submissions. I wrote the letter from the editor, and our group wrote an eight-page feature story. This project also gave us the opportunity to practice editing techniques, from content editing to proofing.

In the summer of 2005, I was hired to write the biography of J Ballard Washburn. I read through his detailed journals and selected what I judged to be the most important events. I then re-chronicled his life in a manuscript over 100 pages long. I also compiled and edited several other pieces, including his wife's autobiography and accounts written by their children. After the writing, editing, and designing was complete, we published 100 perfect-bound hardback editions.

For an honors class focused on the writings of C. S. Lewis, I wrote a series of essays. A final edition, over 100 pages long, was published as a perfect-bound pocketbook.

Not many years ago, a person had to print thousands of copies of a book in order to bring the price-per-copy to a minimum. With today's technology, this is no longer the case. On-demand printing gives the author the option of printing a few copies or many copies for the same base price. I am well experienced in online printing and could readily offer a client the printing and binding options best suited for a given job.
